Four more pieces of fitness equipment have been installed on the 4th and 5th grade side of the recess/fitness trail area. Those pieces include a double climbing pole (fire pole), parallell bars, triple pull-up bars, and the over-under-over bars. Additionally, our PTO purchased swings for the 4th and 5th grade play/recess area.
Last year, the Hernando trail became a reality with the help of our school district, teachers, parents, and students, alike. Once the course was mapped out, we went about creating the many curves and turns that make our trail unique. The trail is just short of a mile long and has fitness equipment aligned at various locations along the route. Our ten fitness stations emphasize agility, balance, upper and lower body strength and coordination. All of the students utilize the trail (last year, we designated every Monday, between November and May as a fitness trail day) before (sports camp), during (PE classes), and after the school day (runner's club).
